Four day Allagash canoe trip, 33 miles, three nights tenting out, great food, spotted lots of wildlife, and a great trip for those with little or no canoe camping experience. Description: Hosted by the East Grand Outdoor Education Program and sponsored in part by Ski Rack Sports of Bangor, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust, and First Wind, the race is designed to get teens and adults outside for some good wholesome physical activity while travelling through rugged and remote eastern Maine wilderness. This 17+ mile race includes a 1.5+ mile off trail compass run, 9+ mile Mt. biking, 7+ miles of canoeing, an extra challenge or two along the way and a climbing wall challenge back at the school’s gym. Note: last year’s extra challenge  was the ‘Bog Challenge’. What started as a high school race eight years ago has grown to include a division for adults, Jr./Sr. and relay teams for those who want to enter but do not want to do the entire course. Divisions are as follows, race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; Adult men, women, mix; Jr./Sr. The open division can by solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. In short, anything that doesn’t fit into the other divisions can compete in the open division.  All proceeds benefit the School’s outdoor education program.  Entry fee is $20.00 per person which includes trophies, t-shirts, lunch and over $1,000.00 in prizes for youth divisions. Advanced registration is required. This is our seventh adventure race with 63 competing  last year. Level of difficulty: While the race will be physically challenging. It is not beyond the reach of those who are in reasonably good physical condition. For more information and to download forms on line.
